1984 by George Orwell

This book is a very dark, real and honestly, someone afraid of the "end of the world" or the "apocalypse" should not read it because it’s exactly what it’s all about. 1984 takes place in what was at the time the future, the world is unrecognizable because of the incredible detail given to every single thing the government has done. The story is hard to explain so I'll try my best to summarize it: In the year 1984 the Oceania has been completely transformed by a man known only as BIG BROTHER, he is the current governor of Oceania and a man called Winston Smith knows his true nature. The reason that it's hard to explain is because the story doesn’t really kick off until a while into the book so I would be spoiling parts of it.
Out of everything in this book, my favorite thing was the future that George Orwell managed to create. This book was published in 1949 but the things he predicted are surprisingly accurate, it might not be accurate for the year it takes place but it got how the world is now perfectly. Something that people might like or dislike is that the book doesn’t bluntly explain everything, I personally like this because I can still get what everything means but other people might not.
In the end 1984 is a fantastic book and there was nothing that I disliked about the book that stood out. If you're the kind of person who likes to read books about the post-apocalyptic future then 1984 is the perfect book for you.

  1. I really like distopic societies, like The Giver, Brave New World, and City of Ember. I haven't read this one, so I think I will give it a go. Thank you for the inspiration!
